Helen was born in Winston Salem, NC and was a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL for 14 years after relocating from Lebanon, NJ. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Isaac Apostle; her mother, Janette Vereen Watson; her step-father Herschel M. Watson; her first and second husbands, Edward M. Brown, Jr. and John Ronald Scarbrough and granddaughter, Caroline E. Sager. Helen is survived by her daughters, Janette Brown Deegan and Esther K. B. Sager; her grandson Justin P. Burruano and his wife, Bríd Devlin; granddaughter Angela C. Brake; and six great-grandchildren, Ryan, Olivia, Juliana, Nina, Griffin and Lucie.
